Sotheby's 28 May sale brought a total of $2,918,875, including buyer's premium. Two works by Jean-Pierre Cassigneul, Femme et anemones and La Roseraie, led the auction at $137,500 and $106,250, respectively, well over their pre-sale estimates.
This season’s 28 May auction of Impressionist & Modern Art follows Sotheby’s May 5th and 6th Impressionist & Modern Art Evening and Day sales with a wide selection of paintings, sculptures and works on paper. Highlights of the sale will include paintings by Eugène Boudin, Maurice de Vlaminck, Bernard Buffet and Jean-Pierre Cassigneul, sculpture by Henry Moore and Jacob Epstein, and works on paper by Salvador Dalí and George Grosz.
